SMS at Easter: We’ve got it cracked!
Easter brings in around £500 million for UK retailers each year and it’s not just chocolatiers that are benefitting.
People really do push the boat out over the holidays. The Easter egg industry is worth a staggering £220 million and the most expensive Easter egg would cost you an eye-watering £25,000! 80 million chocolate eggs are sold annually within the UK, despite the fact that 63% of people would rather give up chocolate than their mobile phone.
Many industries will see an increase in visitors and customers over the Easter period and SMS can help you crack into that big Easter spend. Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket and rely on your customers to flood in. Use text messaging to send out deals, tips and competitions. If anything, it’s an ‘eggs-cuse’ to contact your customers. OK, I’ll stop with the awful puns now, here are some things to try…
Send out deals and discounts
Send a bulk text message out to all of your customers offering a ‘Kids Eat Free!’ or ‘2 courses for £15’ deal. These sort of deals tempt your customers to book a table with you and means you can pull out those tables in the back that haven’t been used in a while.
Things to do with the kids
The kids are off school for two weeks - entertaining young children for two whole weeks is always a struggle! Send your customers free, cheap or exciting things to do with them over the holidays. Send Easter themed recipes (everyone loves a crispy cake) with a link to order the ingredients online. Let your customers know of local art and craft fayres you’re throwing or offer a discount at your play centre, farm or pancake house! Try ‘adults eat for free’ and you won’t be able to keep them away.
Run an SMS competition or promotion
